I am a young Dakelh and Stό:lō woman, I have been raised the Dakelh way of life. The time I have spent at TRU working towards my Associate of Arts and Aboriginal studies certificate has been a blessing. I have had the opportunity to pursue my interest in Anthropology and Archaeology. I am a visitor to Secwepemc Uloo territory and have lived here for several years, living in areas settlers called Williams Lake and Kamloops. I am thankful for the years I have spent as a visitor to Secwepemc territory and honored to be here for my education. Furthermore, the experiences and connection I have with my territory and family were instrumental to developing values, goals, academic and political pathways. Practicing hunting, fishing, and harvesting on the land has instilled my culture and identity enfolded my beinghood in the land. By being a part of the knowledge makers program I hope to gain foundational research skills to support my academic goals related to maintain my cultural lifeways with the land.
